The existing annexes were a sum of distinct buildings, phased over time, whose overall reading was disjointed. Thus, based on the new program, we proposed an L-shaped solution oriented around the pool and the western sun exposure. Volumetrically, we aimed for a markedly contemporary building, assuming at first glance a contrast with the main house. However, in a subtle way, we introduced elements into the architectural language inspired by the main house, namely the curvilinear surfaces—which echo the curved language of the arcades—and the aqua green color—introduced in the main house’s shutters, which appears in the new annex as a distinct chromatic element in the form of glazed ceramic. These curved lines will remain present in the definition of the paved exterior areas and serve as a connecting element between the existing and the proposed.
Chromatically, the annex presents itself as a purist white element, into which subtractions are made to define the access areas to its interior. These subtractions are lined with glazed ceramic in varied shades of aqua green, establishing a visual relationship with the interior of the pool, which will be lined in the same material. This coloring, with its different variants, brings a feeling of freshness and lightness to the environment surrounding the Annex, taking advantage of the different tones the glazed ceramic will acquire throughout the day, depending on its exposure to the varying shades of natural light.
